Back to Technology
It’s been a few weeks since my last post, but I am back with some more tech ideas for the classroom. With the end of the school year quickly approaching and testing pretty much completed, this is a perfect opportunity to get our students thinking and learning and most of all, having fun. There are some great options out there to get students problem-solving and thinking.
Code.org is a great place to get kids coding without even realizing. It feels like a game and students learn the basics of drag and drop coding with themes like Minecraft or Moana.
Google Expeditions and Google Streetview are great ways to introduce students to new areas of the world. Take virtual field trips to national parks and other continents. I recently completed an item on my bucket list by going to Hawaii, which finished the task of visiting all 50 states. While most people will not have that opportunity, these two options give students the chance to experience some of the areas they wouldn’t normally have access to.
Google Sites allows students to create websites about something that interests them. Maybe they are creating a digital portfolio using a website or planning a class competition or trip. Allow students to be creative and demonstrate the knowledge they have gained throughout the year.
Hopefully the end of the school year is great for you! Make the best of it with technology along the way!
